Hey guys, thought I'd post this on here for comments and see what folks thought...so I am making steps to make my first ever segmented bowl .....(yes I am a crazy one!!!).... any ways, so I gets to a point where I have built my rings and we are all good to go, but as I have used different woods, they haven't all been exactly the same height so the rings need levelling. Tried doing it with an orbital sander and to be honest, it looked more out than when I first started! So my head began to think about how I could level the whole thing (8" or 200 mm diameter) at once, one ring at a time, and this is what I came up with:
Basically a board of mdf which is 200mm square, a coach bolt with the end lopped off it, and then a 13mm nut either side which will hold the sandpaper.
The idea is that I will spin it on the lathe, then hold the ring up against it... any ideas or feedback is very welcome here guys- need to know if I am setting myself up to fai
