Just tell folks you've done it deliberately Billy. I used to make sticks year ago sometimes with carved heads. If the carving didn't turn out right I used to tell people that the dog had been in a fight.

Nicely turned and finished pens there, its a shame about Purple Heart, there must be some secret to keeping it purple as I've got some that are still a lovely deep purple after a 18 months or so and others go patchy.
I was once told that Direct sunlight will help it stay/turn purple :thinks:
Anyone else heard this ??

Yes I was told exactly the same by the tutor at Axminster, it certainly never changed the brown one I made.
