I have been tracking the package and it has been at the post office since 9.15 a.m. on the 4th. I have had no card or text from them at all so I phoned them up and they said that it has been put in my PO box, what's one of those I asked and was told that I have a PO box, that's nice I said when did I get one of them. So the first mistake was found, they said they would rectify that and get the parcel sent out to me.

I had a phone call at 7.20 this morning saying that they can't send it out to me as there is a custom charge to pay and I need to pay it online, just look at the card for details and how much to pay, what card I asked, the card you have received to say there is a customs charge, I haven't had one of them, because you haven't sent me one as my package was apparently in my PO box which I don't have, well you have to pay the customs charge before we can deliver the package, yes, but I need to know the details and have a reference before I can pay the charge, it's on the card, you haven't given me a card.........er I will phone you back.

I am beginning to wonder if PO workers eventually become politicians, because they are are studiously useless as well.

I've had a parcel from the USA sat with customs since mid Feb. Only yesterday did the tracking change to "custom invoice issued"

So it is not only the southern branches that are incompetent.

I misunderstood that, I thought you were talking about the PO, maybe the PO employs staff that were rejected by customs.

Now paid the customs charge and it is supposed to be delivered on Friday. These may well be the last kits I buy as I have just had some financial news that means I will have to tighten my belt and stop spending money or get a job. If Dan's stainless shows up very soon, I may be able to spring for one of those, but it will more than likely be my last.

Sad news Peter. We have been pensioners for 20 yrs share the pain.

Peter.

I'm not a pensioner yet, so don't know that pain, I am sure I will feel that as well soon enough.

Have you thought about selling your pens Peter? I don't think that's something you currently do to any great extent at the moment is it? Or maybe I'm wrong.

I sell a few to preferred clients and a few more to people who badger my wife to get me to make one for them, may be a few more to local people who know I make pens and a few more that my brother sells for me in France, but I am not sure I could become a hawker. I did think about selling some banks to Dan, but I am not sure I could make 2000 or more blanks per year.

My package from Smittypenworks arrived at long last and I am so chuffed with the kits, The Majestic Jnr. RB and FP will be made into a present for my Granddaughter for when she starts big school in September. I will make them closed end as I don't like the bottom finial, which allows the cap to post, as much as on the full sized Majestic which isn't postable. I know she would probably prefer acrylic blanks, but as she is getting older she will get Amboyna Burr or if I can find any special Elm Burr to make a more sophisticated set rather than something like Snoopy which she keeps asking me to make for her.
