This is a small commission I was asked to do recently, just a little 32" square topped breakfast table in Oak.
I started with a plank I've had for a while so knew it was nice & dry & started cutting it up at the SCMS into rough lengths.

After cutting these lengths on the bandsaw to component sizes they were planed to size I then dug out my shop made tapering jig & ran out the legs

These tapered cuts were cleaned up at the bench with a hand plane

After which I put the legs together in there correct orientation & marked them up

After that I planned up the rails & cut them to size at the table saw

The legs are simply dominoed to the rails so with these cut a dry fit confirmed everything fitted well

That was enough for me for the afternoon, hopefully I'll get the top sorted tomorrow

Looking good Doug but are the dominoes strong enough. I would have thought a mortice and tenon joint would be the way to go. Not that I'm a cabinet maker of course, just curious.

Interestingly Keith in a test done by Furniture & cabinetmaking magazine about a year ago dowels & dominos proved stronger than traditional mortise & tenon joints, so I'm not overly concerned.

It's not so much a shelf Steve (though there are couple of bits on it) as the top of a hood that surrounds the saw, the sides & back are Perspex & is a throw back to when I had a radial arm saw which spewed dust everywhere so the hood contained most of this. The Kapex dust extraction is very good but the hood does contain what little dust escapes the vacuum.
