Alan, that's a piece of brown oak, the size is approx 200mm high & the depth of cut is about 11mm, honestly can't remember what the cutting time was but it is a 2 stage cut. A roughing cut with a 6mm ball nose bit which hogs out the majority of the material & then a finish cut with a 2mm tapered ball nose bit.
3D machining is not a quick process especially if you want to aviod a lot of cleaning up & sanding.
2D machining like the scrollsaw paterns is a much quicker process.
