Had to have a go and this is the result. A chrome Omega roller ball in Fruited Mallee burr. Don't know if anyone else has had a problem with the end finial bushing? The part you turn down to, mine is off centre so it doesn't run true on the mandrel and I've ended up with a slightly off centre end. I'll need to have a word with you dan. Hopefully mine is an odd one and the whole batch aren't affected.

In the photo you can see where the hole is off centre with the outside edge.

That's lovely Ray, great wood:thumbs: I can't see the whole pen on the laptop unless I zoom out, but then it is too small, can you take a photo so that it is horizontal rather than vertical?

I will have a look at the bushes and see if I can see any problem.

Nice pen Ray, you have just given yourself a good reason not to use mandrel and bushes.
Always much better to turn between centers and more accurate.

I have looke at the bushes I have and I can't see anything untoward, but that doesn't mean much. I did notice that the bushes look to have a chamfer on the ends of the hole if it is 60˚ then they can be used for between centre turning.

Just to clarify, the problem I have is with the posting end bush. The part you turn down to is off centre by a few thousandths of an inch which translates into a slightly amount more material on one side of the finial and flush on the other when the pen was assembled. I'm sure it's just an odd one and Dan is sending me another so it's all good.

I have just measured my mandrels they are 6.14, 6.14 and 6.17 the hole in the Omega bushes is 6.35 I don't know which mandrel the were made for but they are the sloppiest fit bushes I have got.

Sorry, I should have measure all the omega's bushes which I have now done and two are 6.35 and two are 6.39.
