makes me wonder though, chicken and egg stuff, how did you carve the handle before you made the knife?:whistling::ciggrin:

I carved the handle with the blade in and taped up then put the sharp on after.

I have knife that's half made and also a carvers adze that's 95% there. just a couple among the dozens of unfinished projects. i found a couple more so must post them up to show what a lazy git I am:whistling: My biggest problem is heat treating the metal, never seem to get it quite right.

I have some tool steel that might be of interest to you Brian, I'll put some bits together a post a little of my rubbish for you to recycle:bwink:

You don't need to heat treat saw blades, that's already been done to make the blade.
One good reason for using them. one mans junk is another mans treasure mate please do send em on to me.
I had some come through the post this morning from George ( GeordieB,) Many thanks George.
I am using one now to make a knife or two from it init?

I have some off a Nobex" mitre saw so they are a lot wider than normal hacksaw and very flexible, make great scrapers for curved work. That's not the steel I meant though, I have a roll of tool steel about 25 wide x 3mm thk. I gave a bit to Woody and Paul at York I think. That needs treating!
