Well after seeing all the lovely acrylic pens on here, thought I would give it a go.

This is my very first attempt at an acrylic pen and it is a Sedona fountain pen in pearlescent white.

To be given as a wedding present for a niece.

Lovely pen Steve  She's sure to be happy with it - pens for weddings always go down well!

They may be able to use it to sign the register if they speak to the registrar in time. You have to use their super-permanent blue-black ink for legal reasons.

Like the shading in the blank that makes it far more interesting than stark white. This in line with the live in tendency these days. As a wedding photographer of 60 yrs I know the impact on the wedding day and family a great pen can have. I know I was always very careful at signing time to record the pen and certificate.

Thanks Graham! I am giving it to her this weekend... the wedding is later in the year... so hopefully they will be able to get permission from the registrar

Thanks John!

I love turning and have only turned wooden items up until now....

I tend to use a traditional grind spindle gouge for my wood pens... and found that on acrylic I needed to use the "dreaded" skew to get the finish I wanted. Maybe the lack of experience turning acrylic... but couldn't get an acceptable result with the gouge. That said... after practicing on some rough wood with the skew to refresh the muscles... it turned the acrylic to a finish that I was really pleased with (not only for the sake of the gift, but also for testing my skew skills!)

Like everything else with turning... it's difficult to resist the "one last go" move that generally ends in tears! But I managed to control that impulse this time!

Thanks Peter!

I wanted something different from the stark white look. I got the blank from Dave at penkitzandbitz and am really pleased with the effect. Dave also kindly gave me some advice re painting the tube and inside the blank - to really make the effect "pop".
