Politically correct terminology the nib is now leaning toward the right faction.

I just received my swap from the states it has a two toned nib with a Lotus engraved on it writing saying Iridium tipped German nib does this mean its a generic one of ten million or would the Lotus stamp have meaning. Waiting to find out what the kit is will photograph later the pen. It writes better than I can but spelling needs checking. There is no number on the nib.

The lotus image reflects the nib is from likely from Berea and one that Richard Binder pointed out is of lower quality. However, those nibs can be worked into a good quality nib.

It could have been your foot it dropped on:thinks:at least the pen would have survived and you could have had a nice trip out to A&E :funny:

General question since I have avoided Fountain Pens how many makers of these pens tune the nibs trial run the pens flush and clean the nibs, sell the fountain pens ready to write I can see a minefield with these pens, quality of inks fillers choice of nibs, cartridge or fillers, ink colours. The need for other papers to reap the benifits.

Anyone answers I have asked in the past no replies maybe these things are either not done or partially perhaps. Ed you said the nib I inquired about can be made very useful I have looked on You Tube the fettling of a nib looks like a science to me.

Every turner who sells a fountain pen *SHOULD* be doing this.

However, it seems the tendency is to not deal with it at all. This helps further the negativity of 'turned pens'.

It is fairly easy to smooth a nib and no heavy experience required.
