Well no doubt you will all be aware of the old saying "Patience is a virtue" (not going to mention "Patience" only has 1 "T" :whistling::whistling: )

Patience is a virtue that would feature very low on a list of traits that I am known for :goesred:

It was only two days ago that I thought the time was getting close that I may need to change lathes, I think it was only yesterday that I actually decided really did need to swap lathes, it was only yesterday that I decided not only to change lathes but to actually upgrade one.

Spent a good few hours yesterday and today raising the money and pulled the trigger on this one today Amazon.co.uk and it is arriving between Sat 13th and Tuesday 16th

Stupid delivery service making me wait for ever for it :vangry::vangry::vangry:

I think I have been patient (2 "t's" :whistling: ) with this purchase and would say I have chosen well. When it eventually gets here  I will take lots of photos of it and share them on here (including unpacking) so between now and then you good folk will have to take a leaf from my book and show a bit of patience ( one "t" :whistling: ).

Can I just ask, why didn't you go direct to Axi, there next day delivery on most things?? Or wait till black Friday?? Or chat to Axi as sometimes they have good deals on returned items (unboxed but unused)...... Just a thought...

To raise enough funds I had to send some pen Jaws back (only had them a day :sob: and the money was placed on my amazon account, that tied me into Amazon.

I think that it's the same price anyway, Gary. you just have a longer wait. It's all to teach you more patience.
All the best with your new lathe when it eventually arrives.( mine is similar )
There will be no stopping you now. Take some time and take some photographs.

I think it will be near summer 2022 before any new chucks, gives me plenty of time to make some pens :whistling:

Its fine for making pens and small bowls. I have a couple of lathes. I have it set up with a set of pen jaws at the moment. Makes drilling blanks so much easier. I tend to do most of my pen turning on a metal lathe. You will need a decent chuck and some extra jaws etc if you are planning on turning bowls.
I struck lucky I bought it off one of the Guys on here it came with a chuck and some extras and it was about half the price of a new one.

Brilliant, well done for getting plenty of funds together. But I thought Amazon had to refund to the card once the item had been returned! :thinks: Have done with anything I had returned. Or was it patience (with one “T” ) that caused that?

I have one of the old girls of this model, brilliant little lathe. (I do have others as well tho :goesred:) I have had it 9 years, brought it off Woody who was on here a lot at one point. Still around but on others streams of social media. Had it for grandson, but now I use it for drilling and finishing blanks. It’s about all she gets used for but a great little lathe.

It was indeed lack of patience and even more a lack of thinking on my part :rolling::rolling::goesred::goesred::goesred:

You have a team of experienced “thinkers” on here Gary, just ask the question. There is always someone willing to share their buying experience. Oh, I forgot Patience came into play again.:funny:

I have the same model lathe, fab lathe, good speeds + variable. I use Record sc4 chucks and jaws, never had any problems with them. Used it for bowls, pens even a little metal work on it. Also have a Rockler extractor and face protector on it. its a easy usable lathe, you should enjoy using it. Just don't put the tray behind the tailstock, you will trap your fingers behind it.
