I'm looking for a pencil kit/parts with 0.5mm lead, with brushed/satin finish hardware and slim design. Seems there are not to many around as this is all I've run into so far.
Slim Style Pencil Kit - Satin Nickel
Anybody know about the quality of this mechanism? It also shows a twist style pencil but description says a click top? Any other sources for what I want?

I'm a new guy here and wanted to make a few pen/pencils sets for myself, a couple coworkers and buddies. Most of them will get metal bodies with a knurled grip as we are hands on mech. engineers and machinists, always greasy. I'll turn a couple out of wood for the desk jockey's, my boss. :D

Navin try Signature Pen Supply in the States for a comparison,a satellite? company that partners with Beaufort in the UK owned by this forums owner.

Welcome from the other side of the world here in Canberra Australia. Trust you are out of harms way from fire and snow conditions, where in the USA are you?

Peter.

Much appreciated all.
It looks like the Beaufort mechanism is a relabeled Schmidt DSM and most of the others kit use the same. They are unfortunately a bit too large diameter as I wanted to keep the pencils under 10mm.
I think I'll get a slimline kit and compare parts to the known reliable mechanisms, Pentel and Zebra, to see if anything is workable. Thanks for the link wm460.

Thanks for the welcome, Nil. It's 20C and the fires are near 900km away form us here in Northern California. All good....
