What did you put under the friction polish Johnny?

Thought for not very long last time this kit cropped up and nothing has changed, it's still orrible. It's not just the unnecessary centre band but the complete lack of design thought gone into the blank metalwork interface detail and the plastic black look.

Nothing underneath just Bare Wood, no need for sanding sealer the Olive has a smooth natural finish so in my opinion no need for anything else , no grain to fill in .
Buts that my opinion , no doubt others have their opinions and no doubt their opinions are also ( Always) right , but thats what makes the world so nice , a difference of opinions

Thanks Peter,
i occasionally use Ca for Olive , sometimes i use CraftCoat , sometimes Carnuba Wax, and sometimes Friction polish and Renaissance wax.
That is the joy of Woodturning pens, there are so many choices and so many variants,

Johnny, Thought as much as the friction polish has tainted the colour of the olive, made it go a little orange. The sealer prevents it doing this, if thats what you want, providing you use the sprays as the bottled stuff also taints the olive wood. Sealer isnt just to fill grain but it stops the wood absorbing the friction polish and therefore gives you a better finish.

I am with you there Johnny. I don't think the perfect pen finish has been invented yet.

I like everything about the pen except the centre band.
