Incredible, beautiful workmanship and blanks. The background is a bummer,the pens need to be seen for what they are to give separation and exclusive right of passage.The finish is outstanding Ben.

Three cracking pens but unfortunately the background takes a lot of the beauty away !!!

Three beauties there. I prefer the red and the green one to the darker colour but they are all great pens. I must agree about the background which does not really show your excellent work to its best advantage Ben.

Nice work Ben, I'm not as adverse to the background as the rest.

I see you snaffled some Jewel of Poseidon Cebloplast - pain to work with eh, can't use a sander at high speed at all to square it, but it finishes up beautifully! Really like the cracked brown ice too.

I see you're still getting it in the neck for your photo staging. Personally I don't have a problem with your background. Your lighting is not at all bad either - maybe a little glaring in one or two spots, but there again you are showing us work as it comes off the lathe - so I don't have a problem with your lighting either.

However, if you want a really cheap solution to silence your critics, you could pop into your local wallpaper merchant and pick up a roll of good quality lining paper. It's very nearly pure white, and is really handy as a background within easy arms reach, for firing off any quick "this is what I've done today" photos. That and a "grey card", (which we talked about on the phone the other day), and you are home and dry Ben. Critics are silenced.

Excellent pens Ben, Really nice fit and finish.

Not dishing the background, however please remember Bill is partially sighted so may not be able to make the difference between some backgrounds making it difficult to clearly see them.

My view is if we can see the pens then the background and any props doesn't matter. After all, we are a pen turning forum not a photography school, however in Bills case he obviously couldn't see them.

Just my thoughts..

I'm doing a photoshoot the next few days - will try taking a few on a plain white background and post them here - is a white background best for you to view ?
