Please feel free to post your pens made using a blank you have cast yourself.
This is not instead of where you normally post your finished pens, it's as well as. Let's build a library of pens with a self-cast blank.

(If you make blanks to sell, you are still welcome to post finished pens here if you made the pen yourself, but please don't turn this thread into an advertising medium.)

Well, I don't have any 'normal' pens made with a self cast blank yet, but I had a go at turning this 'oblique' dip pen from a fairly simple blank I cast a while ago.

I make a lot of dip pens, but don't usually turn them - until now I have mostly done ergonomic ones, which are hand shaped from the resin block. Again, cast by hand...

That's a lovely shine and finish to the ergonomic pens Melanie, have you done that by hand?

Thanks Keith. No, I used to polish them by hand, using micromesh and burnishing cream on them, but then I started using various buffing wheels and compounds, which I mounted on an old lathe, which I find is VASTLY better - both in finish and for my hands!

Just a couple of my recent ones.
The Vertex Click was sent as a sample and decided to dress in one my 'Eddy' blanks.
The pair of TM Zeta again dressed in one of the 'Eddy' blanks.
Finally one pen that I think I am still going to keep is one of my playing card blanks on a TM Omega and first time I have cast a 2 part pen with the playing cards.

these are beautiful, now I want to turn an oblique pen. May I ask where you got the tip and nib from?

I make the little metal nib holder out of a piece of nickel silver, or brass (I can send you a couple, if you want to have a go). The hardest part of making the whole pen is cutting the slot for the holder and fixing it in, that seems to take longer than making the rest of the pen!

The nibs are easily available on ebay, either new, or vintage.

Bolt Action in Pewter

I got fed up with the amount of Pewter Tankards that I won years back so decided to melt them down and cast a few blanks. I done this one a while back.
