Thank you all for your comments. The Bushings for the Stainless kits will definitely British made and stainless. These will feature the 60degree inverted come to aid turning between centers.
I do like a healthy debate.

Correct. Holed as well. Best of both that way. I will always call them bushings if only for the irritation it causes 'some' forum members [emoji12]

If you want to go down the route of good quality bushes then you will need to have a good quality mandril set up to start with and the only way is to produce and sell both. Just thinking out load Dan

aLL YOU NEED dAN IS A ROD TO SUIT THE SIZE OF the hole you're drilling in the bushes.
At least getting both from same supplier gives em half a chance of fitting correctly and only one person to blame when it goes pear shaped init?
I wouldn't worry about threading it or getting a tapered end, as most penturners certainly those on these forums have their own collect drive and mandrel saver.
All you supply is rod of the right size init?

This is factory bushings vs TBC bushings. You can see the difference. The TBC bushing is a close fit and a tight fit with little room which makes it more precise. They are also LONGER inside the tube which adds support.

The problem with mandrel holes in the bushings is this. There is a reduced surface area for the live/dead center to grip. In many cases this may not be a problem but it COULD be a problem for some turnings.

TBC also allows slimline turning without a mandrel. The top set is for a Gent Jr while the bottom set is for a slimline.

Come on what's all the fuss about bloody bushes I treat them as consumables if they fit use them if they don't bin em simple if you buy the same kit from a different supplier then buy his bushes for the sake of a few quid job done all manufactures will use there own size tubes so you have to buy there bushes if you dont like it then turn between centres

Yes, but I'm interested in the relationship between the bushes and the mandrel. Dan and I have been talking, and you know where that leads to...

This could lead back to where you started if Dan is supplying the bushes and you supply the shafts, everyone has different tolerances and machinery.
It ain't rocket science and it don't have copy sizes.
A simple bar and a corresponding hole is all it needs, you already have the collet and saver. 5 minutes to make and 3 months to wear out.
