I had a lovely piece of Cocobola to use as a pen cap with a lovely orange huw and lines through......unfortunatly after turning its just a plain brown dull blank.....will it come back orange with a bit of time....as i know purple heart does or should i add a stain??:thinks:

Turned my first piece the other day too, it lost a lot of the reddish hue that was on the outside and it is a orange/brown on the inner, with nice lines still. Curious to know this answer too. :nooidea:

Its not a wood I've worked with a great deal Mark, but is it not to do with oxidisation? I think that if left exposed to the air in non bright conditions it will return in time, although common sense would suggest to me that any kind of applied chemical finish would inhibit that process.
