Rotten ol smelly Jarra vase finished

That's a lovely chunky vase Woody with a nice grain & rich colour.:thumbs: I've turned jarrah before It turns & finishes ok.

That's really a nice looking vase. Its too bad there is a consequence to turning.:whistling: We have a species of Elm my dad called piss Elm. Didn't figure out what he was talking about until I turned some.

Very nicely turned vase.
If you mean the wood is Jarrah from Aussie then there is something wrong here.
I have been turning Jarrah for years & have never had any bad smelling wood. The main reason our members don't turn Jarrah often is because of the fine dust when sanding which stains clothing etc badly.
If it is Jarrah, then I suggest the local wildlife has been using it as a toilet.:winking:
It is a beautiful timber which can vary from pink, through reds to purple, & some of the grain is unbelievable.

No this wood had been part of the docks submerged for god knows how long and that is why it stinks like really bad feet.:funny:

Thanks for the info mate It is Australian Jarrah but it has been laying at the bottom of the docks for goodness knows how many years and that is why it smells so bad other than the smell I did enjoy turning the vase and I like the finished item
