set up a wood turning workshop

I went to a veterans centre in Southampton a few weeks ago and set up a woodturning workshop by donating everything needed to make there own pens as fundraisers and this is just one of the guys I tought to make his own pen and I had a fantastic weekend with them going back again to show them how to make bowls.
Just received this photo of Chris an Ex RAF OFFICER who has no memory apparently he won’t remember what he has done in the morning but his smile tells me that making that pen was a highlight of his day his excitement was so infectious now tell me was my visit worth while just to be part of this man's moment I love this photo now dont that make it all worthwhile it also helps in a big way for those suffering with PTSD.
I JUST LOVE WHAT I DO IT'S SO REWARDING

Well done Mate! I do some background volunteer work for a network of woodturners chapters for individuals with visual impairments in the USA. Very rewarding, and I love hearing of the work of others. I assisted a gentleman who is fully blind (lost his eyes in a car accident) turn a pen he wanted to give to his son. The smile was priceless, and as he felt/inspected the pen he said simply... "If I could shed a tear, I would be now!" I shed it for him.

As part of my "orientation" to this volunteer activity, they put a full blindfold on me and had me do some turning. A very worthwhile training.

Having teamed up with you at Blind Veterans UK Llandudno on a couple of occasions Woody I know the out standing work you do for all of our veterans. You sir should be in the New Years honours list.
