Thanks for all your kind comments gentlemen. This was a very translucent blank, so much so that you could see the tube through the cap section before I had even started turning it so I painted the inside of the tube to prevent the tube or glue line from showing.

It better not be, I paid Turner's Retreat a premium for silver. :rolling:

Do you have a link that shows the Silver plated Baron?

I really like that one Walter..

Nice blank, nice finish and superbly presented..

I must admit you are getting good at this pen turning lark, good enough to even write a book or two:whistling:

Love it..

I also like the comment they make on the plating..

" has a high quality chrome plating that gives a shiny rich look at an inexpensive price. Chrome plating is highly duable and is capable of resisting everyday use."

Don't they use the word "chrome" in there somewhere.. I would hope it's a typo..:thinks:

Thanks Eamonn.

As far as I can tell they have just cocked up the description on their website by including the spiel about the chrome version. It should, if one disregards the rather dubious grammar, read like this:

The ever popular Baron Fountain and Rollerball pens are now available in Sterling Silver finish and Chrome finish.

The Sterling Silver have a 20 micron plating and have been treated to inhibit tarnishing. The sterling silver has a stronger silver finish when compared to Rhodium.

It should end there but doesn't, the following is added which, apart from the spurious \n\n is exactly the same as the description on the page for the Chrome version.

\n\nThe Chrome Baron has a high quality chrome plating that gives a shiny rich look at an inexpensive price. Chrome plating is highly duable and is capable of resisting everyday use.

Well I like it.:bwink:
This is the pen you made for your article in the Woodturning Magazine's 25th anniversary edition, is it not?

If the Silver plating is thick and treated to resist the natural need of Silver to require polishing that is important and desirable the pen is superb holds its own.

Thanks for showing Walter - different options are good to know and silver is silver and classy with it. Looks good and balanced. If I'm honest I think a darker blank would show it off better (for me).

I agree, many issues are raised by the fact that in the many cases of today are found that the buyer is all the web director, the sales director is the web director and the key accounts manager is the web director.

In other words is possibly the same person doing all three but very poorly.

It's a shame if that is the case but I have the same problem in my world. I am the key account manager. Sales manager and Jack of all trades that doesn't really meet in today's world.

That said, well dome to them for trying..

Yes it is tempting to think of suppliers like TR as mega corporations when in fact they only have about half a dozen staff in total.
