Thanks for all the comments guys, really appreciated. I really enjoy making the nuts and bolts, I've made some in walnut and olive which turned out well and the kids love playing with them. I've made a few sketches for a wooden adjustable spanner to go with the bolts. I think the design will work but I have a couple off wee projects to finish first.
