I have a question if anyone can answer me. What is the difference between these 2 spindle threads. 1 1/4" 8TPI RH and M33 x 3.5 RH

The 1 1/4 is an imperial thread and the other is as it says metric. Simple as that. The new Axminster that I am getting is M33 so I will have to buy an adaptor for my scroll chuck as it is imperial!!!

Terry, i am sure you can't get a M33 chuck adaptor? M30 is the highest that they go to. :bwink:

My 'new' CL3 has 3/4 x 16 whereas my Ax had 1 x 8, so I'm also gonna need one!

Jim, I've been googling and I'm pretty sure you CAN get M33 adapters? Of course if Terry can't get one he might have to just give the buyer of his old lathe the chuck ...

David, where do you see the M33 adaptors? The last i knew both Sorby's Patriot and the Nova2 didn't have the adaptors, but both made a chuck to fit the M33 with out adaptors ... :nooidea:

Jim, there may not be a 'chuck-specific' adapter, but Toolpost do a M33 to 3/4x16 spindle adapter (you have to scroll down a bit), which would mean Terry's chuck could still be used. Darn! Just talked myself out of a chuck! :goesred:

Seems to me You are talking about screw threads, yes?
Then cut the crap, if you can't buy one for stupid money from your favourite rip off merchant.
Make one. ends there.

I got one from either by Chronos engineering or RDG tools Jim I can't remember exactly.
RDG inherited all the Myford kit when they went bust I had to phone and ask as it wasn't listed but they had one.
The other guy to try is big Jim up in Scotland he got something unusual for me another adapter but once again memory fails me.
Big Jim I can't remember his website oh my brain hurts all these wonderful problems to help with.
Mervin will tell you who he is Merv does his website for him.
