stool / cracket non slip finish?

OK, finished it.
Decided to go for a varnished finish as I found some acrylic satin floor varnish among my stuff and it said "slip resistant". Anyway anti slip it ain't or at least not enough so waxed it and made, as suggested a cover top as pics.
They're coming for dinner so it'll get a test this afternoon.
