Did you have they flash on when you photographed this Brian? If you did, knock the flash off & retake your pic, it will soften the image & give a better pic.

Hardly Don but if it helps someone else get involved then that's great.
If it rekindles an old interest that's great too init?
I would love a local tutor cos that is what I could really do with, I am going blindly into this and teaching myself with the available you tubes.
One to one is always better cos the tutor can give an insight where you're going wrong.
Have to say you guys are a big help, thanks for the support, love you all I do dad's.

Well this is how it stands tonight, lots of lessons learned along the way.
Don't rush, it's tempting to wanna see it finished before you start, this was done from my head trying to remember the order of cut from the broom handle one I buggered up previously.

Mark it out and keep marking as they disappear, make precise marking cuts and slice back to the cut.
So what if you make a mistake? It ain't the end of the world, remodel and remark or throw it out and start again, it's only a lump of wood init?

Now I have hit a stumbling block I need some help or know how, when is it finished?
What do I do next?

I would be happy to leave this as is and look back in months or years to come and say that's where I started or do I carry on and straighten things out.
I don't want a perfectly smooth symmetrical face I envisaged a gruff rugged look, we ain't perfect people are we?
Well I know some think they are init?

Advise please from anyone who knows?????

It's easy! You cut away any bits that offend your eye. When none left offend it's finished.
Sounds glib but true

Start again then init?
This one is going as a door knocker on me shed so I can see it as a reminder, and watch it weather.
