As promised a short WIP on how I turned my Bangles.

I decided to make bangles from about 2 1/2" inside diameter up to 2 7/8" which should give a good range to fit most adults. Adjust this if you want to make them for children

The way that I make my bangles means that you can do it from a minimum of 1" stock with very little waste.

Take a small piece of wood slightly larger than the overall diameter of the bangle you wish to produce.

I then marked a circle larger than the diameter and cut them on the bandsaw to reduce the time turning

Drill a hole so as to fit onto a screw chuck

Mount the blank onto a screw chuck and then onto the lathe. Using some deviders mark the inside diameter you want in this case I chose 2 1/2"

Face off and using a parting chisel cut on the inside of the circle marked in the previous step making sure you keep this cut square to the face. This cut should be at least 3/4 of the way through as you will be using this to mount the bangle again later.

Start to shape the outside shape to whatever you want this is done up to the centre line of the bangle the other half will be done later

Part 2

This is where we are at

2014-10-06002011_zps9ccea313.jpg

Start to hollow out the centre to the depth of the cut you made earlier remember there is a screw chuck in the centre you just need enough room to sand the inside once cleared out

2014-10-06002013_zpsf3571e23.jpg

Round over the lip remember this needs to be comfortable to put on and take off the wrist

2014-10-06002015_zpse298c55a.jpg

Now is the time to remove it from the screw chuck and replace it with a scroll chuck. As you can see I have put a wide elastic band onto the jaws this helps prevent marking the inside that you have already sanded

2014-10-06002016_zps464ad186.jpg

Remount the bangle onto the scroll chuck

2014-10-06002017_zps69d00df3.jpg

Now start to clear out the centre but don't go any wider than what you have made the inside diameter

2014-10-06002018_zps12b871e7.jpg

Remember to be careful as there are some jaws in there somewhere

2014-10-06002019_zpse069a271.jpg

Now that You can see the jaws go back to the parting tool and with gentle cuts take it down to match the first side and again sand (watch those fingers).
If you have done this right there will be very little sanding by hand to do where you can't get in.

Not turn to the outside again and copy the shape you chose from the first half don't forget to round over the entrance to the hole as you did for the first half

2014-10-06002021_zps91d506ca.jpg

Sand to finish the outside second half

Bangle Part 3

Hopefully you will end up with something like this to be finished and decorated to you own design or required finish

Hope this is clear enough and of some use to someone
