Cellulose sanding sealer as that's all I have to hand.
I'll bet you have some beeswax candles somewhere, as the piece is spinning fast stick the candle on it and slowly move it to the side, the friction will melt the wax onto the piece. Don't stop the lathe, next get some old T shirt and push it up to the piece and move again from one side to the next you should now be melting and buffing the wax. If it looks dull repeat till it looks shiny if you have to do more than 5 times, you are not watching the shine correctly. As with all things like that it is up to you to judge when to push, buff and stop.
