UK cost v buying abroad

With one exception (Beaufort because of their high and consistent quality) II believe buying pen and project kits from abroad (mostly USA) is cheaper than purchasing in the UK, even allowing for international postage and (sporadic and unnthanomable) customs charges. The variety on offer is also much greater. I've bought from PSI in particular over the years and provided I place a reasonably large order I reckon I get better value. What do other members think?

Have to agree with Mark, I have purchased a lot from them over the years and sometimes no custom charges then next time, customs charges that seem to double the price :scratch_head:
But that's the UK Tax System for you, it has never made sense and never will

I have more or less given up buying from the states, mainly because of the obscene postage charges some suppliers are now applying. Eg one seller wanted £30 to send a couple of washers.

Don't know if it's the sellers over charging or if the American postal providers have ramped their prices up, as it didn't used to be this costly.
