Phil Irons used to sell Vicmarcs but he told us he stopped because Vicmarc wanted a minimum order of £100,000 which was beyond Phil & most other lathe suppliers I suppose.

Vicmarc is a regular guy so many would be dealers find delight in the high margins they can obtain from China imported lathes it used to be at least 100% this maker has principles dented by others avarice. He would be only one of the few family manufacturers in the world that has made such an impact with his machinery. Any questions can be answered by a call to him or Timberbits who now has a high score under his belt and is aware also of dealing around the world. I always like to get knowledge as direct as possible know both parties. I used to fancy Mercedes now have had two in a one driver family these days bought the ones I found affordable rotate my two vehicles an all wheel drive SUV and my beloved Daewoo Leganza, surprise the Mercedes was made in the USA and the Daewoo in Korea with an Aussie Holden 2.2 litre engine. I have no cat in this discussion having different lathes as well there are many gold standard lathes made in Australia such a small population and market.

I am surprised that Vicmarc would do that, they want to sell lathes.
Say Dan want 5 lathes to sell through his business, they are not going to say you are going to have to spend another £75,000 before we will do business with you.:thinks::thinks:

BTW I though Phil Irons stopped selling Vicmarc lathe when the Aussie dollar went up to match the USD and above.
I remember reading about that on the other pommy forum.
