Putting the banter to one side and before I say this I am not on commission !

If you haven't got or seen a copy of Walters book, I would strongly recommend it it's absolutely full of really good advice and the projects are brill and for the price it is on Amazon it's a great addition to your turning library.

And the publishers make a fortune whilst the Author gets a pittance!

:nonono:Vic:nonono:

The publisher pays the author a set amount of money and depending on the contract, Royalties for each copy sold. The publisher takes the risk by fronting all the money. If an author wants to be his own publisher he can and then pay for printing, publicity getting them into shops etc etc.

Quite so Peter. I'll never get to be a millionaire writing for a niche market, but the hourly rate is pretty good.

Carry on like this Vic and you will be in line for a job in marketing. You have generated one sale already.

I have to say as a relative newcomer to pen turning your book is a mine of useful information. I find that it helps make sense of much of the information on this forum.
For anyone thinking of having a go I fully recommend it. You did us all a great service by pulling things together so well. Thanks Walter.
Keep the information coming.

Allen, you don't have a location in your details, where are you in the world?

Thank you Allen, it is good to get positive feedback from readers.

Paul's query about your location reminds me, if you have a copy of the UK version of my book "Pen and Pencil Projects" do not be tempted to buy the US version called "Complete Guide to Turning Pens and Pencils". It is the same book with a different name and cover required by the American marketing people. :nooidea:

I concur what people have said regarding books on pen turning, especially when first starting out, they open up so many avenues which helps you progress further in much less time ..

I have had the book that Walter wrote for some time now and just last week I ordered Water Clear casting kit A and a pack of 20 rubber bungs for the tubes.
I am about to try the Clear Cast Sierra Twist Pen as described in the book and have every confidence that everything will be ok, as Walter description of the methods used are brilliant.
I would recommend the book to anyone.:thumbs:

Take photos as you do each step and others may see how easy it is and have a go:thumbs:
