Walter I admire your vase in shape it reminds me of a bowling pin it is to me smooth and appealing. I know you enjoyed making your steady for this exercise a simple smooth wooden plug fitted to your live centre in the tail stock for any outside work, a glued sturdy base for the hollowing phase. Just reflecting on your asking for comments.

Lovely Vase Walter.:thumbs::thumbs:
How did you attach the steady to the lathe bed?

There are two square plates made from Corian, each drilled and tapped to take a 1/4" bolt. They fit under the bed and the bolts pass up through the saddle of the steady and are tightened in place with star knobs. If the bolts are loosened the steady will slide along the bed in the same way as the tailstock or banjo.

How big is the internal Dia?
I am making one of these, if you can hold this with 2 X 1/4" bolts, I am certially going for an overkill with an 1" bolt.:thinks:
