My neighbor who is a joiner brought me a few off cuts of oak kitchen worktop (not solid but laminated), wasn't sure if they were going to be any use but did a couple of X cut oak sierras today.

Sierras, in X cut oak, gold with chrome titanium ca finish

The off cuts, if anybody wants any oak X cut blanks (sierra size) let me know, the off cuts shown are 60 x 60 x 300mm, I will cut them up and post them of to you

Was tuff stuff Peter, things didn't quite go to plan, first coatings of ca finished & polished I decided to polish with HUT Ultra Coat, big mistake, white dots ingrained into the pores of the grain, so had to cut back (with chisel, re-sand / finish etc.).

Another lesson learned :thinks::thinks:

Those are really nice. Will have to try something similar. I have a lump of some sort if mahogany which should be big enough, don't know if the grain will be as nice though!
