So I bought some of this, being sold on the forum.

From what seemed someone who knew what they were doing

Totally covered in wax I was dubious and asked how long had it been drying, "18 months" I think the response was.

So I turned a couple up ..... If anyone else bought it, scrape the wax off and dry it properly. Because it ain't ready

To say I'm pi$$ed off is an understatement

Nice pens, too bad about the cracks.
If I think that the blank isn't dry enough I give it
the microwave oven drying treatment. It usually works.
They don't look bad at all. Can you dismantle them, put them back
on the lathe, and re-finish with plenty CA.
Call it ''character''

Have you asked for an explanation?

Brad, I didn't mean to imply anything in my reply, sorry.
I did read it. The seller told you they were dry.
I should have went on to say that a few times I bought wood covered
in that waxy sealer. When drilling the blank the sawdust was very damp.
So I dried them with the microwave process.

No Peter I haven't, not going to, can't be arsed, I will just vent my anger.

If they ain't dry they shouldn't be sold, unless they are sold as wet and need curing.

Guess it's buyer beware

Brad, please ask the seller for an explanation, at least then you can be sure that it was a mistake or not and see how the seller responds will determine how decent he is and you can let us know the outcome so that nobody else has the same problem.

A shame there Brad, I have also bought a few of these and will turn a couple to round today to see what I find. I have bought blanks from Lee before and always found his product and service to very good. I would be very surprised if he has purposefully tried to sell you / us a load of duds.

That's a real bummer and very disappointing when you've spent time and money.

Personally I would have asked the seller for an explanation before venting my frustration on a public forum though, especially if it's another forum member.
I haven't bought any of these so don't know but it could have been an error which the seller would be anxious to correct perhaps.

Splitting, my sides laughing at to comments, a cracking pen right enough. Damn shame. Good thing to point out I believe that using the micro wave it should be set on defrost, not cook, as THAT can split the wood. Trick is not to take your understandable anger out on innocent pals eh?
Not laughing at your misfortune you understand, just the back chat.:funny:

I have had the same from TR, many moons ago Brad, it isn't nice i agree. The best thing to do is contact the seller telling or showing him the results of your work, this is a first complaint i have seen regarding him, give him the chance to put things right. It makes us all feel more confident buying from vendors if they react to complaints ..

Shame though cos it is a nice piece of timber ..
