Something a little different, never tried a green man before. I take my flex cut tools away with me on hols, this took me two hols but only doing it sporadically when we had nothing planned or the girls were just chilling - I finished with Danish oil this week when we got back.

This has been a long time coming, 8 years to be exact!... No point in rushing.
This is the last of the PSI Americana pen kits, complete with Teak that has come from HMS Ajax. The wood was sent to me from Bill Mooney back in 2014. been sitting looking at me but wanted to do it justice so...
Hi all
My first ever venture with celluloid, (cellulose nitrate). I’ve made many pens with the similar, but less combustible, cellulose acetate and I must say the cutting and finishing experience is much the same. I’ve heard some people say they can tell the difference by the feel of the...
I have spent all day trying to put a finish on a Macassar Ebony pen blank.
I Sanded to 600 grit and cleaned with Meth Spirits until the cloth I was applying it with stopped coming back black. I then put sanding sealer on, around 6 or 7 coats, until it looked even.
I then tried applying CA, for...
This is the first pen I have had to make my own tube, I say make but really mean I cut off the tube from a 12" tube.
Went back to CA finish with this one, I have managed to make a ripple effect :vangry: I know exactly how it happened. Let me explain.
Sanded it down to 6oo grit and no sign of...
This is not the best finish I've had - it was the first one I've turned since sharpening my gouges and I think I was previously working to accommodate the bluntness of my tools, and now they have the correct angle and sharpness back I caught the blanks a couple of times :rolling:
Anyway here it...

As some may have read in another post I am upgrading my workshop but I have one huge big fear and that is when everything is put back in the new one I will not know where anything is:thinks::thinks::thinks:
New pen finished last night.
Tried to get the combination of wood and ‘synthetic’ right and think the kirinite works well with the elm.
Had a few problems with lacquering the wood so will need to go back and revisit that but pretty happy with this one.
An critique would be most welcome.
Well had a tree surgeon in today to take down a conifer tree which we let get to big.
I measured it at the cut and it is 37inches diameter but being a very soft wood not much use to turners. I got them to leave the stump a little tall as not 100% sure what to do with it may just cut it shorter...
So this pen is going to a dear friend in Florida and she love cat's I did ask her what colour she liked and Purple or blue came back.
