Hi all, just completing a couple of requests....
Firstly a pair of Yew Omega fountains, I did a few for this customer who unfortunately lost his bag..... Luckily he came back to me:ciggrin:
The second is a Horse chestnut Sirocco, for a teachers gift.
As per my prviouse post, I am slowly getting back into the swing of things.
Workshop is now close to being how I want it and casting is now back up and running...
Some I make into pens, some I give away to friends that have just started turning and I am starting to get a fair pile of blanks...
Hi All
Not been around for a fair while, life takes over, illness, moved house etc etc
BUT workshop is now up and running and have been back playing
Made 10 of each of these and my daughter in law (senior nurse) took them into the hospital and gave them to nurses and doctors.
My...
Well what can I say
I've had one of those days AGAIN !!! Yep every thing that could go wrong has.
So I couldn't sleep so at 4.00 AM I glued up the Tubes and got glue all over the coffee table. Anyway went back to bed after a film or two. So I thought I would turn my pen about 9.00ish as I was...
Hi all, I have always been happy with our suppliers, but I broke a few drill bits of late (machine marts finest Clarke range:whistling:) so after these guys were mentioned a while back I thought I would give them a try.... Obviously there not Dorma, but they weren't Dorma price either as you can...

I started this tap handle years ago from some forgotten type of fruit tree wood I picked up years ago in the Adelaide hills.
I had just finished turning it, came back the next day to put finish on it and found it had cracked.:vangry:
Found it under the the bench the other day, filled the crack...
Hi folks,
Man of few words so this introduction will be short. I’ve been turning for several years now starting of course with pens and then moving on to bowls, clocks and most things in between. Recently I’ve done a 180 and found myself back making pens and really enjoying it. A...
I don't think I've showed this here but was reminded about it on a FB post.
Bill Mooney sent me this pen in his signature shape a few years back as I'd sent him the crosscut Sycamore blank.
I keep this for showing in turning lessons when appropriate.
Hi fellow penmakers I'm back again after a long absence and I have a question for you. I've had some cherry wood which has been lying for a few years out the back (now the new shed is built YES I'm now in it) I decided to turn some of it. Unfortunately its too dry:sob::sob::sob:The question is...
I posted something like this a few years ago.
There are many labels, decals, and photos cast into
blanks and they turn out some excellent pens.
Most times only the back of the pen or the seamless side is shown.
How about showing us what the seam in the graphic looks like.
Hi all,
I am still around but "play" time is very limited due to family health commitments etc. Hopefully will be back full time soon.
Best of luck to all.....
Cheers
Frederick
Hi Guys, i've never had this problem before so not sure what could be wrong. I've had a customer message me saying that a slimline pen refill is going back into the pen when she tries to write. She says the top half of the pen turns. Any idea what the issue could be?
I didn't really think that this difference would be so dramatic.
These two pens are made from exactly the same material, which is Conway Stewart Opal.
On the same kit, obviously different platings.
The first one has had the blank back painted white and the second black!
Opal is a particularly...
Well what a place, I have just had 3.5 weeks in UK with a lot of travelling ie Chichester, the Mumbles, Bolton, Harrogate, High Wycombe, Bolton, Chichester, back home (about 3500 kilometres)!! What a place...…. I have never seen so many roadworks, so much rain, so many middle lane hoggers and...
Took a break from gardening stuff and turned a little box from American Black Walnut. Finished with cellulose sander sealer and woodwax22.
Now back to some more gardening including taking down a cherry tree yet more wood for the store.
I know its got nothing to do with woodworking, but the scales are of my own design and to be honest, I am rather proud of it.
So a little while ago I was at some friends, who incidently have a forge. I took over some old garden shears and got to banging and clanging forging out a knife.
It had...
