Was given a log of plum turned wet left to dry for 2 months finished sanding sealer and wax,
Stands 18inches high then gave it back to the lady that gave it to me I think she liked it

Second lady figure which I feel is better than the first this time she looks more elagant from Yew and stands 8 1/2" tall. I spotted the two knots in the wood which were at the wrong height so made sure these are at the back as it would have been embarressing if I had positioned them eslewhere...
I have been asked to make a lady figure from some yew and not having ever done one before thought I would do a quick practice, even then I have taken it right through to the finish.
Body is Ash and the hat is Laburnum it stands 6b 1/4" tall and 2" at its widest point. Finished with sander...
I’ve been scratching my head on how to best cut a cable hole/slot in the back of this unit on my boat. It’s underneath the gunwale and there’s a 6in height gap and 4.5in to the back of the unit under the gunwale. I was thinking an angle drill with a hole saw to fit one of those desk type cable...
After my success of turning Toni Ransfield’s beautiful polymer/acrylic blanks I asked Scott, Mr Blanks, if he could cast my other 2 set of Toni’s blanks in acrylic so I could turn my signature shape. These he gladly did F.O.C. & sent them back with a nice little packet of sweets for good...
Another African Blackwood heat sensitive. The wood changed from black to this colour after being in my pocket for about 5min. There is a choice of 6 colours it could change into depending on how long the heat is applied. When the pen cools down it goes back to black.

They called a risky one, suffered an event under anasthesia so they kept me for several hours more doing checks and balances. Some internal 3 D pics showed severe burning from my 39 visits for Radiation to kill cancer a couple of years ago. No such thing as a free lunch. Not supposed to drive...

Due to health reasons haven't posted or visited for quite a while. Health is now reasonable and it's time to get back into life and turning.

Hi guys and gals.
I'm new here and a novice at pen turning although I'm a qualified antique restorer with an HND in antique restoration. Have only ever turned a couple of small finials when I was at college many years back. Brought myself an Axminister Precision Pro Lathe and their hobby...
Vic was kind enough to give me some lovely blanks when we met a few months back, and I set about making a Mistral with a nice purple acrylic (or polyester?) one. That blew out on the nib barrel :sob:
So I cleaned up the tubes and dressed them in another beautiful blue blank, only to have that...
Had a commision for a pair of Mistrals , a fountain and biro.
Both dressed in "Emerald Dream" blanks from Sawes (Scott Walker).
Great service from Scott in getting another blank to me quickly after I over-tightend the chuck and cracked it while setting up to drill!!!!!
Really appreciated as...
