So I've been casting PR for a couple of months with so great results but I was getting annoyed at how brittle it was (I need a more robust product).
So I bit the bullet and bought a pressure pot, compressor along with some clear polyurethane resin and a shed load of mica colors
I feel like a...
My first ever hybrid.
I had quite a few blow outs and had to use a bit of touch up glue and saw dust. I do like the end result but I know I can get a better finish in future, also the transition still looks off a bit off.

A mock up for the gifts for #mas fair I'm doing next Saturday.
The cloth extends to the end of the table I'll have, not the one here so ignore the blank bit!
I may have a bit more room on the floor to the left though!
I had a lovely piece of Cocobola to use as a pen cap with a lovely orange huw and lines through......unfortunatly after turning its just a plain brown dull blank.....will it come back orange with a bit of time....as i know purple heart does or should i add a stain??:thinks:

Has anyone checked the accuracy of their mandrel? I tried mine with a dial gauge and it was miles out!!
I ended up throwing it away and made my own using an old 2 morse taper drill and a bit of round rod. I am lucky in that I have an engineering lathe as well as a wood lathe but I wonder whether...
In Derek's thread 'knocking on heavens door', showed the generosity of a friend, I mentioned that simultaneously I had been offered some cherry, I was a bit sceptical about the dimensions since I had never heard of a 20 meter cherry tree... Well I went to collect the main trunk sections.... I...
After nearly 44 years travelling the country and working all sorts of hours I've finally packed it in. It's time now to spend some quality time with Lorraine and perhaps finding a bit of time in the workshop.
Tried doing a modified slimline for the first time as i couldn't get on the forum, not perfect but will do as a shed pen, think it's a bit of Hawthorn or similar wood,
little black bit was where a small knot was..

Commissioned last year for a real steampunk fan, he was over the moon.
The time to dress the tubes alone took me four and a half hours.
This was a bit less trouble.
