Just finished this pen today it's stabilised red scyamore blank from Mr resin blanks on a Taylor midfield omega finished with a melamine laquer and microcrystalline wax

I'm calling this a needle pot, but I will probably keep tooth picks in it. My lack of turning experience shows, but I enjoyed doing the pyrography. I finished it with CA, but will try melamine on my next effort.

So, after leaving the cracked Oak blank to one side, I turned this small bowl (about 8" diameter) for my daughter-in-law's 30th birthday.
Finished with melamine and carnauba wax.
I bought some of the Olive blanks from woodwiseuk and decided to try it on a Gold TM Epsilon, what a nice kit! Finished using Phil's Melamine method
This pen was made for my son-in-law from a lump of, I think, mahogany which he brought back after clearing out his Grandfather's house following his passing. I used a melamine finish for the first time and am delighted with the results. Although you can't feel it from the picture the pen is...
Well, I decided this weekend to try out the Melamine finish technique that Phil (kindly) shared with us.
I followed it to the letter except for thinning the sealer, mainly because I didn't have any thinners!
However, the sanding and burnishing with the shavings gave me one of the smoothest pens...
I made my first Mistral today and must say it's a fine kit however I should have read the instructions first. Deciding to put a bit of shape in to the barrel I tapered it and of course when it came to putting it together I'd gone the wrong way against the different size bushes if you know what I...
Hi all not posted / made a pen for ages - shan't bore you with the details but I've enjoyed keeping in touch with all the developments
I was very interested in the CA comments by Walter, particularly as over the years I feel I have perfected it, but on reflection (literally) whilst they can...
I may have asked this before, but until now never got round to using it...but taking advice from everyone because of the issues I have with ca fumes, I'm looking at some wipe on Chestnut Melamine as an alternative.
Has anyone used this (wipe on) and can anyone confirm its as good, strong, long...
Never having used it before I bought some Chestnut melamine finish for my pens.
I have now tried it on a couple of "practice" turned pen blanks (not finished pens!) to get the method right. I have failed completely so far. No shine at all on a bubinga blank. I want to switch to melamine...
A Beaufort Mistral ballpoint in a "From the Tree" mallee/acrylic hybrid blank.
Finished in cellulose sanding sealer and Melamine.
Much prefer finishing with this than CA and hopefully I won't be going back to it.
This is the first of my English oak pens made from the oak from Durham Cathedral kindly donated by Andrew Hall. The oak is at least 1000 years old.
The pen is finished in melamine & is finished ala Phil Dart who kindly gave me advice on using liquid melamine as against spray melamine. Thank you...
