I've done a search and looked through the forum. Is there a better finish than melamine and microcrystalline wax for a wooden bottle stopper? Any ideas other than finish the bottle and not use a bottle stopper. :winking: Dave

A 5" x 2" bowl in Accoya. Spirit stained, with silver and gold gilt cream, finished in microcrystalline wax.

Beaufort Mistral in Rhodium Divine Island Damascus Steel Dry sand to 1200, burnishing cream then microcrystalline wax.

Yew bowl turned today, decided to leave this one chunky. Finished with sander sealer and carnauba wax buffed on the Chestnut buffing system. Measures 10 1/2" X 3"

A little Yew pot 2 1/2" x 1 3/4" finished in Microcrystalline wax.

Finally back in shed! Managed to turn this fancy slimline pen, finished with a melamine and microcrystalline wax. Quite happy with my efforts and this and the acrylic pencil is heading south for Sunday! !!

Hi everyone I am new to pen turning and would like your advice on finishes. I have already applied 4 coats of melamine lacquer but not sure what to use next, I would like to get a gloss finish I was thinking of using a Microcrystalline wax or mabey a friction polish would these be ok or would...

I plan to get some wood in to store for future use, i though i would seal the end grain with wax but have no idea where to get it.
