@ Derek,
I have finished of fettling this machine and it is cutting a treat.
In pic_1 there are 2 screws holding the left side plate to the body. The screw on the right only needs slackened as the plate is slotted, the screw on the left is accessible when the plastic 'Parkside' cover is lowered.
Removing this side plate gives full access to the bottom outrigger and blade holder.
I would like to know if there is a supplier for brass tipped 6mm grub screws and my life would be complete :whistling:
I had a look for spare blade holders but can't see them can you help. I will send a PM.

I am sure you could find them on eBay cheaper than these

I cut up a brass screw ( 10 gauge I think) and fitted that into the hole infront of the grub screw. Of course it is not actually attached to the end of the grub screw but so far it seems to work OK. I good source of 6mm grub screws with brass ends would be great.

I really hope so Peter. Cutting little brass billets from 5mm diameter bar would work but I reckon I will have to replace the fixed screw on the opposite side of the blade as well with something similar. If I could source replacement blade holders I can make it a project.
I had a good day today with the machine and it should do as learner machine.

Would just brass grub screws work or would it be too soft?

This 'Parkside' cover is in fact a holder for spare blades, allen keys etc. :goesred:
I think the machine can use the Jet blade holders from Axminster but I will keep looking and will report back

No brass tips Peter, I am still looking. I have a couple of tests to run yet but I reckon it is a good buy for the money, and with some extra fettling will be a great buy.

Could you not just use M6 hex headed brass bolts with a slot cut into the head to take a screwdriver?

Some lathe makers sell screws and brass pellets to secure lathe chucks to prevent unwind on reverse very easy to make brass pellets.

Hi Peter,
I have been stopped on this since Friday as I have trigger finger on my left hand and it triggered. I finally saw a doctor yesterday afternoon and he gave me a cortisone injection, that has freed it up but it is still rather painful.
I have had a look at the Jet lathe as I think the blade holders on them will fit the Parkside, if so I will purchase a set. I can also get a handle/thumb screw thingy that can be pressed on to the head of a capscrew and that will eliminate the need for a grub screw and allen key. So many possibilities :thinks:
I still have not checked the alignment of the top and bottom arms and as it is raining again I will leave the shed until later.
While I am at the top and bottom arms I will have a look at reducing the stroke of the blade, with luck the eccentric may already be drilled, if not it should be a simple job.
As I write the rain has stopped and the sun has come out so maybe off to the shed after a quick cuppa.

Had a quick look before bringing the machine into the house and the plate on the side seems to indicate it is made by Scheppach, or rather it is made for Scheppach in the P.R.C.
Could be possible to get spares from Scheppach, even updated blade holders :thinks:

I have finished fettling this machine and it is certainly value for money.
The only alteration I would make now would be to change the blade holders for the quick release type.
Pic_2 shows the quick release type and pic_3 shows what is fitted at the moment.

@ Peter, I saw on another forum that people were buying this saw and it was replaced by Einhell as they were marked as manufacturers.
I called them today to ask about blade holders and it seems it will be ok.

A quick update to this saga. I have given the table a rub down to 600 grit and the wood slides a lot easier. I have made a zero clearance plate and it works well.
When you tighten the grub screw it bends the blade, I will need to make some loose brass slugs for securing the blade.
Otherwise I am finished with fettling and ready to do some serious work. :whistling:
