Thanks for asking the question. Though it might seem conceited to say so, I like to think that Beaufort Ink leads the way in the UK regarding what goes on INSIDE a pen kit. Yes, you can rest assured that high street "standard international" cartridges will fit.:bwink:

Thank you Phil.

What is non postable?
A postable pen has a thread on the finial on the barrel at the opposite end to the nib, so that the cap can be screwed on to it whilst you're writing. A non-postable pen doesn't have that thread, so the cap is placed in the desk whilst you're writing.

Pens with shorter barrels and those that are nib heavy often require the extra length of the cap otherwise they're too short in the palm or to give a bit of ballast. The disadvantage is that it often makes the pen top heavy whilst in use. The mistral has a long nib barrel to start with, and is designed to balance nicely in the hand without the cap.

Does that make sense John?

Interesting Mr. Dart. Will there be an option of Beaufort cartridges or bottled ink to follow?

The fountain pen and roller ball look exquisite. I look forward to seeing the finished trial pens and hearing the opinions of those who made them.

This seems like the answer to a prayer. As you may have seen from another thread, I have a customer who wants a quality fountain pen, ballpoint and pencil set (my second request for this in the last few months.) My hope is that the customer is prepared to wait until your set it available. I was intending to go to Axminster in North Shields on Tuesday to buy an Artisan set. If the customer is in no hurry, I will abort that trip and wait for your Mistral set (nice name by the way.)

Any idea what the timescale will be for the full set becoming available?

As others have said, a problem with most of the pencil kits on the market is the unreliable operation of the pencil mechanism. Have you managed to overcome this? If so, I will put you forward for a knighthood!

Great Phil, rollerball would be my initial choice anyway.

You don't have a history with the NHS do you Phil? Everything there seems to take 6 weeks between actions / appointments. :rolling:

Liking many features Phil reservation on the oh so thin ring to the clip its not clear how the clip is made. Is there a tiny spacer washer in front of the clip?

The timescale for the ballpoint and pencil will be probably another 4 to 6 weeks on top of the FP and RB. I haven't yet received the prototype samples let alone the finished samples.

Part of my brief to myself for the BP and especially the pencil, was to improve on the terrible mechanisms that come out of Taiwan and China with many other pen and pencil kits, and consequently they are being made to a completely different design from high quality materials in Europe, not the far east.

Happy to accept the knighthood should you feel inclined to confer one.:frenchkiss:

Thanks for your comments Peter. The ring you see is a symptom of a poor photograph. There is a sprung gasket which is compressed between the cap finial and the cap tube, the concept being the same as most other FP/RB kits. The gasket is actually quite substantial, but I agree, in the photo is doesn't look it. Does that answer the question?
