Got some special Gidgee coming and already have the Accacia Peuce or common name Waddy wood with sapwood, surprise Elm Burl from an old tree down in Tasmania planted in the early days of that Colony Island ,abit of a National Treasure down there. The platter made by our Woodcraft Guild President totally impressed me made from this same piece I got a few pens from. I will take a few pics later on. Feet dressing morning.

Be careful those logs don't fall of the ceiling and hit you on the head:funny::funny::funny:

Some of those are cut a little short and really need cutting through the centre

Thanks Derek

I take it it is only the larger diameter blanks need cutting. I will do this tomorrow. I have an electric chain saw now, so it’s a little easier. Thanks for the info ...

We go into a 3 week shutdown today.
Have to stay at home with very restricted movement to get supplies.
As I cannot get to customers or look for work decided to make a few pens.
Got a blank out of the store. Label says "Br???? Mallee Burl".
Any idea what the smudged letters are?
Hard as hell but looks like it will make a nice pen.
Thanks
Phil

How are they going to keep the locals shut up?
Back home they are shutting all the remote communities for 14 days.
Not sure what is going to happen when I want to go home and have to cross the boarder.

They have already arrested lots drinking in taverns after the lock down.
No alcohol or cigs allowed to be sold so there will be lot more caught being devious.
Got my supply so can last the 3 weeks. If it gets extended might have a problem.

Still in the workshop. Very cold in the mornings but enjoying it. Made a 10 inch coloured rim platter and a small pot with a Walnut lid. Working on another segmented goblet. I think I have listened to every programme on Radio 4 Extra......i think I am going...
