Spent some more time at the weekend continuing to sort out my jungle of a workshop. Uncovered my planer/thicknesser from under all the stuff dumped on top of it.

There's a fair bit of rust on it here and there, so I'll have to find a way of dealing with that, although it looks pretty superficial. I ran a couple of pieces through it though, and I'm pleased to say that the knives still seem razor sharp, and it all worked ok. I have some anti rust stuff somewhere - I'll have to hunt it down.

Cutting the musical notes has come to an end due to me managing to break three scrollsaw blades in one day whereas the first blade lasted three days before needing to replace. Now need to order more

Just try 0000 wire wool or nyweb and a little oil or even dry with the nyweb then degrease and give it a coat of woodwax22 this will help preserve it and slow any return of rust as well as make it easy for the wood to slide. I do this on my bandsaw and it protects it even when I am cutting wet wood.

Today was the dreaded shopping day for all the essentials, then home to be reminded that the mower needed attention and that if I repaired it the wife would cut the front lawn. Mower now fixed as well as blades now ordered

Not sure I'm inclined to strip it down to that extent Mark. I could catapult a few lemons at it though:whistling:

I haven't tried this method, on the Aussie metal work forum, a number of people used Evaporust, soak some paper towel, lay it on a the flat surface and cover it with plastic.
I will be trying this later, on my table saw.

So yesterday I got the long hole boring kit up in the teaching workshop.

kit (1)_640x401.jpg

Then today I made a start on the garage workshop by cutting dry blanks to size and re-stacking one set of shelves.

As my workshop is several miles from my house I can only look at it on my remote video camera, I can even see the pen I was half way through still on my lathe lol.
On the plus side my paperwork and accounts are now just about up to date.

Shoulder making progress. My bride used the leaf blower to clean out all the flower beds and I used or small mower (self propelled) to chop them up. Yesterday I pulled a wagon around to pick up all the sticks in the lawn. After I then spent time in the shed sitting in front of a fan to cool down and promptly fell asleep for an hour. Baby steps. :funny::funny:

Well it was a glorious day today (25 degrees C) not a contrail in the sky, only the goldfinches making the most noise. I got told to be bored with woodworking and asked to help with the dewinterising of the pool. So it was off with the heavy duty protective cover (116 kilos) and then erect the summer fence, clean the pool of dead birds, dead leaves, dead toads, dead mice etc, Clean the surrounds with the Karcher and start heating it (ie let the sun warm it up)

Managed a little workshop time even if it is just cutting out some notes for a bowl project. What with cutting and cleaning up I have about 8 more pieces to finish. I may even just go and turn a simple bowl just so I can complete something. Why I come up with these silly ideas is beyond me I just get something in my head and try and do it.

I have included a ruler in a couple of pictures to give an idea of scale
