Dan I honestly think you shouldn't change it, you must have another kit you could use. Keep this one for at least a few weeks and put it somewhere you can see it everyday and let it speak to you. I really don't think it is as bad as I first thought. I seem to remember Neil turns some of his pens like sausages. Just hold on before you do anything with it, in fact keep it as it is, if you become a big cheese in Pen kits that will be worth a fortune in years to come.

Just joking of course:funny:

Not to my taste Dan but surely not bad for an 8 year lay off, just remember all your critics on here are stark raving bonkers:whistling:

Now as you know I'm new to this. But I did wonder why your website didn't have any iof your photos on it when marketing the pens.

Thus I do believe you were a wise man in getting the others to do the pens and image. :bwink:

I think this is one of those instances when I should keep my big fat gob firmly shut.
I wouldn't want my comments to be taken the wrong way init?

No sod it I will say what I feel, I will always try to encourage a beginner by saying put it to one side and look at it in a few months time.
Then give up altogether cos you don't never gonna make it as a penturner init?

Good luck Dan thanks for being brave enough to show this masterpiece.

No doubt I will get a load of abuse from the fat pen lovers for this but in my opinion, and from my experience of helping beginners, I believe that most fat pens are not designed that way, but result from a reticence on the part of the turner to turn any thinner for fear of turning over thin.

I suspect that after your layoff you were just being a bit more cautious about turning away too much timber and when you return it to the lathe your confidence will gradually return and you will end up with a much better looking pen.
