That's why we have had such wet weather init.... Must admit I didn't realise there were so many holes in the bloody stuff I sent him tho..:goesred:

To conclude as promised yesterday, today is tomorrow init?
You can see here why I wanted to stabilize this piece of oak for the cap, it is the last piece after a few disasters along the way.

Following the same procedure as the the bottom barrel, the cap was gingerly turned to complete the closed end 300 yr old oak Omega.

Normally I would have binned the blank and started again but this one just had to be done, I chose not to put a clip on it as there is barely any wood left.
Plenty of brass can be seen through the holes.

During the making I had a blowout and found a 300yr old nail.

I thought you were going to do a proper CA finish on it, I would have liked to see the cap end matching the bottom end, but not bad for a first attempt:thumbs:

Thanks for this Brian, you know that pen has something about it .. Only the other week we were in a furniture shop that was selling sideboards in wood similar to this and they were retailing in the 1000's .. You may be onto something here my friend .. :winking:

I suppose this is a reminder that I never did do the tutorial, maybe this weekend if it don't get to cold for me.
Got my date through to have a pacemaker fitted next year 6th January, mighty scared about that init?
