I suppose this is a reminder that I never did do the tutorial, maybe this weekend if it don't get to cold for me.
Got my date through to have a pacemaker fitted next year 6th January, mighty scared about that init?

Hi Brian, fortunately that's become pretty routine nowadays so good luck there :thumbs:

I'm only a newbie so not really able to offer advice but I did think that once the surgeon has stabilised your heart it might be worth asking if he could stabilise your pen as well?! just a thought!:thumbs::thumbs:

You southern wimp, it's not cold, get out there and get it done..

They are so common now Brian, don't be worried about it as you will be supprised how quickly and easily it's done now adays.

Not like the old surgeons in your younger days, like butchers on a block. My FIL had one and my mother had one fitted around two years ago and she has never looked back since mate.

Everyone I know that has had one fitted has felt great afterwards and it is a fairly routine op nowadays. Best wishes Brian.

Thanks for the reassurance and good wishes, I have only booked 3 days off work for it so it wants to be good and quick init?

My blood is so thin at the moment the only time I can feel warm is sitting in a steaming hot bath.
I won't go into details but I have started to dress like my granddad init?

If you haven't got any thermal underwear get some, I learned the benefit of thermals when I had a few years living in Norway and going about normal business in minus 25deg C I can still potter about in the garden here in January without looking like the pilbury dough boy.

As others have said the op nowadays is fairly routine and I am sure you will feel better for it later, just take it easy and give yourself the best, fastest recovery possible:thumbs:

Hey Brian
If they bugger you about with the dates just give me a shout and I'll have a go. Got loads a scalpels and blades and the missus is a nurse so handy with the needle and thread. You should be able to glue it up yourself though if you don't mind a swollen face.:whistling:

Seriously, tell them about your sensitivity issue as they often use glue nowadays. ( that's sensitive as in allergy not your sensitive nature:funny:)

Good luck Brian, I know 2 guys with pacemakers and they think they are brilliant! You'll be ok mate:thumbs:

That's what I mean about dressing like my grandad init?
I wear long johns vest, t-shirt, sweatshirt and a cardigan on top of all that and I am still cold.
Bed socks and hot water bottle don't warm my feet up.
I never used to be like this, it's ridiculous, my kids have just left my house cos its overpoweringly hot and I sit here shivering.

That doesn't sound normal, I had the same last year for a few weeks, I just couldn't get warm, doctor thought it was kidney stones and it did hurt when I pee'd but after an ultra sound they said kidneys were clear, then it all cleared up. You have to make sure that you drink a lot as even though you feel cold you are warming your body up more than normal and will dehydrate which can be dangerous so drink plenty of water.

Best of luck Brian, it's routine these days so try not to worry too much. Evelyn has a pacemaker/defibrillator fitted & the hospital monitor her over the phone at night on set dates to see things are ok. The unit keeps her right, so you can look forward to being a lot better.

Best of luck for the 6th January Brian. ( I am sure you won't need it though) Please take it easy and give yourself plenty recovery time.

Since propriety products are frowned apon on the forum suffice to say I used the blood thinners you use seemed like forever changed to a new drug two or so years ago one capsule morning and evening no more continuous blood tests, can eat anything before even a lettuce salad chucked out the INR reading. The good thing about the W product is any bleeding can be corrected immediately. I sympathise Brian and can only imagine living in real cold climate we get very cold winters but nothing like the UK ones. Sometimes medicine can get you down but the alternate soon reminds me how wonderful it is. I have been medically killed twelve times and resussitated with electric shock tongs in an effort to get my heart started again in synch it has never worked. I would envy those who can benefit from using a fitted pacemaker since those devices are not intrusive and can change your quality of life enormously. Things then to be wary of such as welding etc will be fully explained. My experience with your blood thinners was following the INR results any correction of the dose I decided to avoid the swings and roundabouts the Docs caused me I got a script for the different values regulated myself
, busy professionals seem to just have a go and guess.

Take care follow the thermals I would be interested what Paul thinks of thermals since I understand they are used by divers as well.

Kind regards Peter.:thumbs::thumbs:
