Schmidt make a rollerball nib and feed to take a cartridge or one of their converters. "patronenroller system". It is threaded so fits in a section - same idea as a fountain pen nib and feed. It uses the same thread as a Bock no 5. I got some from Germany. I have made one prototype it writes nicely.

OK. They are on order and about 10 days away. They will work at £1.97 I hope (to be confirmed) and I'm also getting some with a chromed front section, the cost of which will be a little bit more.

The thread size is non-standard (of course) :rolling: so my existing Bock taps won't do the job I'm afraid. However I'm working on some taps to suit, which I hope I will have shortly, but no deal is done on that front yet.

Taking the bull by the horns must be one of your mottoes Phil another way to go good luck mate.

Peter.
Always with quality at the top of my agenda, my philosophy Peter, is that if I can help people to make better writing instruments by making products available that are of genuine benefit, are hard to find, or hard to buy in modest quantities, then I'm happy to step up to the plate. I tend to focus on the inside of a pen, and the bits and bobs needed for kitless builds, and anything else that helps to transform handmade pen in to a better writing instrument. You won't find me stocking chinese slimline penkits or anything else that is already well represented elsewhere.

I happen to believe that these refillable rollerball tips are a good idea, and consequently, I'm happy to make a bulk purchase in order to let people get hold of them without the need to go through the rigors and disproportionate expense of importing them, or paying for shipping from a supplier from whom they will possibly not want anything else.

The same is true of the thread taps to accompany them, which are simply not available in the UK except by bespoke manufacture, which costs a fortune. The deal is done on those too now, so they'll be available within a couple of weeks as well.

If people choose to buy products from Beaufort Ink, then obviously I'm delighted. On the other hand, no-one is forced to buy them, and there are no hard feelings either way.

The taps are in the bag now too Eamonn. The order is placed (TapCo - who else!!) and subject to them receiving my samples to make sure the major and minor diameters are correct, I should have them in a couple of weeks time.

Nice of you to be worrying about poor old me Eamonn.:goesred: The ones you've sent me are so I can work on some designs, not rushing into them yet.

I can wait for Phil to sort his end out, gives me some breathing room to read up on kitless pens. :thinks:

This is a Schmidt product, the 'rolling righter'. It takes a 6.4mm x 0.5 tap / die size.

The initial charge of ink in the feed will take 1/2 of the long international size cartridge or an entire standard size international cartridge.

There are several flavors, the one pictured is a black plastic tip and there is a metal (chrome?) nib.

One of the first penkits i used was the Americana Cigar Rollerball from Stiles & Bates (Stiles and Bates) product code: AMCRB this uses an ink cartridge or refiller instead of a rollerball refill. I gave this to my boss as a present and he uses it daily.
