Those of you that make TM Omegas what size of drill do use use for the cap tube I tend to find the 15/32 is a bit of a slack fit for the tube or am I being to fussy
I know the Orchestra is not ready until the Lady Harpist is seated and ready to perform the solo. But this is the result of many many hours of scrounging and adaptation. I went to many car wreckers etc they have experienced an unprecedented season where all old steering wheels suddenly became on...
Was over the moon when a mate of mine a way back said can you use this. It took all my strength to move it to mine and fit it to the big drill I picked up from a garage sale that turned out to belong to my mate. I gave my other drill and various XY axis vices etc to a worthy mens shed.
Peter.
Had a clean up in one of my shed yesterday, I come across these from when I converted my bench drill press in a floor drill press.
Later as the shed shrunk I converted it back into a bench drill press, put it on a set of drawers on wheels.
What Can I use these for?
I did find a heap of...
Had a spare half hour today, dug out the bottle jack and found a brand new scissor jack I forgot I had bought. The scissor jack was a simple solution for my drill press and works perfectly. the jack has a grooved top which locates on to the central rib under the table, I cut a bit of 9mm ply...
Hi everyone
I have a bench mounted drill press which I use a lot. It's the type that has a post without
the 'teeth' on it , therefore adjustment has to be made via the clamp. I've always found this
quite difficult but having had a recent accident with my right hand, it's become more of a...
Hi ,Tried my first acrylic blank and drilled out on the lathe ,Does anyone find the centre then drill a small indent for the drill to follow ,No problems with wood but the acrylic must have been way off centre though it didn’t look it ,When I turned it it was way off ,Carried on to sand and...
Hi ,New to pen turning and I’m finding it near impossible to drill accurately straight through the blanks ,I’ve got a Pillar drill ,Must admit it isn’t much good as there’s too much play and I can’t adjust anymore ,What’s a good drill for accuracy with pen tubes or is there any other way to...
I had one if those days to day everything went wrong. I had a blank shatter . So I gave that up after wasting two blanks. Decided to have a go at a churchill couldnt get the tubes to fit. The kit says dril sizes are 13.3 I can not find that drill size anywere I dont have a 31/64 either so I...

I am looking for cobalt metric bits so any where will help me find them
Hi, and Happy New Year to all!
I have finally got round to getting some kit for pen turning. I went for the Axminster Precision Pro lathe in the end which looks to be a nice setup. I know it is limited in terms of size but for the foreseeable future I am focusing only on pens.
One of the...
Hello all,
Today I decided to make some wood pen blanks for some Sierra pens. I found a suitable piece of Burr Elm and prepared it for the brass tube only to find that
the tube would not completely enter . I took the blank back to the drill thinking that all it needed was a cleaning out. Still...
My grandaughter decided she would like a "Harry Potter style pen" so of course i said I can do that,,,then had the sinking feeling,,,, how on earth am i going to do that ,,,, a quick search on here turned up a couple of pics , so all I needed was a kit that had a screw together rollerball or...
I bought some Olive wood blanks off ebay a while back and decided I'd drill and glue a few to make some slimline pen and pencil sets. I found the blanks to be very, very light with absolutely no weight to them whatsoever. The 7mm drill bit almost fell through them.
The first blank I tried to...
Hi all.
I'm wanting to make my upgraded Jr Gentlemans pen which I bought a short time ago. I have the blank, kit and bushes so I'm pretty much set. However, the drill bit sizes are really odd. 10.5mm and 31/64". I have found a 10.5mm but I don't seem to have any imperial. 31/64" is...
Have a day off today (London for the rest of the week :sob: )
So down the workshop and decided to have a good tidy up.
Just managed to knock over my small drawer cabinet that houses all of the pen making drill bitts and bushes
I now have a every bush kit mixed up and a pile of drill bitts on...
FRom the wilds of the Northern Territory Conkerberry is getting very hard to find. It grows as a bush covered in thorns with others making it difficult to harvest. My mate who gathered some for me ages ago described the event as Bloody. Cutting the buttand dragging it out involves keeping an eye...
