    Wood drill needed

Hi does anyone know where I can get a 25mm diameter wood drill with at least 100 mm depth? In UK or France. I'm looking for a drill as opposed to an auger or flat spade drill and a forstner bit on an extension would wobble too much. PG (in hope)

Advice reqired re swaging cartridge to make bullet pen

Hi after having a bit of a tidy up in the shed I found some spent cartridges in my shed .243 and .270 Winchester magnum. Looking at the .243 I thought it looks the same lenth of the brass tubes from a slimline and remembering a utube video from Woody decides to drill out the primer first with...

    Time for a sort out

I have somewhere for most of my drill bits except for the metric ones, so i spent yesterday sorting out all my drill bits and making a wooden drill block for the metric ones. Nothing special in as far as woodworking goes but it is surprising how long it took to drill it out and sort all the...

    Drill haul

Last week somebody arrived at my mates shop with a container of rusted drill bits. "Do you want these or they go to the dump?" Stupid question! Well after a number of days dunking them in the electrolysis bath have got a number of bits as the pics show. Some have been badly abused and badly...

    Zeta dressed in Cranberry Crush

First time I have used the new Bosch Pillar drill to drill out the blanks. I have to say it was a lot easier than when I did it on the lathe, so I'm a happy camper now :-)

    Bench Drill Press - Question

Gents, I know this topic has been covered before, and everyone has their own preference, but I am after some specific advice. trying something new

As some of you know i have only done a couple of craft fairs. The first is best forgotten, the second was pretty good. I have a lot of people asking questions about pen making. So i thought i would make a small video of the process step by step. Obviously it is much abbreviated, 16 mins in...

    Pen mandrels

Has anyone checked the accuracy of their mandrel? I tried mine with a dial gauge and it was miles out!! I ended up throwing it away and made my own using an old 2 morse taper drill and a bit of round rod. I am lucky in that I have an engineering lathe as well as a wood lathe but I wonder whether...

    Drilling Acrylic/Resin Blanks

When drilling these blanks there is always the risk of a blow out when the drill exits thru the bottom of the blank. FOR ME IT'S ABOUT 90%, NO MATTER WHAT DRILLS I USE. So I cut the blank much longer than needed and drill past the tube length. Then cut the blank to length and you end up with a...

    Two new simple segmented pens

I made two more very simple segmented pens with just two 45 deg cuts today I have included some photos of the blanks before turning because of the nature of these blanks they have to be made exactly to the length of the tubes so drilling has to be exactly right dead centre and straight I have...
