Well drove up to N Yorks today to pick Dad up for Xmas, had to drive past TR en route.

Well, I say drive past :whistling:

Picked up some small bowl blanks for an idea I have to do over the hols if I get chance.

Would have been churlish to drive past now wouldn't it.

Can't fault you Phill, these opportunities have to be taken :bwink:

If you're dropping your dad off after Christmas & passing this way feel free to drop in, I'm sure I could furnish you with a bit of Sycamore, Ash & Horse Chestnut Burr if you like.

Hi edlea i have found that in some cases when i come to fit the tube of a sierra in the blank i can only get it in a third, other times i have no issue. I get my kits mainly from turners retreat.

Spent most of the day hanging a TV off of number 2 sons bedroom wall & then trying to sort out stereo signals to two headsets for both of my lads Play stations, not helped by the fact that both headsets & play stations where different & though they had the same problem the answers were different, "sigh"

Then it was off to the in-laws for tea, having not been home long any chance of workshop time has faded into the night :monkon:

Oh well tomorrow's another day.

There are different sizes of tubes in the sierras I have found this and I believe Woody has mentioned it in the past.
I definitely know there is a difference in the age of the kit they went from just under 10mm to just over but not sure of imperial sizes which I think they are made to.
Thinking about it, It may have been 9mm or 9.5mm Help me Woody I cant remember?
Anyway point I am trying to make is they do vary from old to new kits if you have old stock or not.
The other thing I have heard but cannot substantiate is they are made from model makers brass tubing (Steam train tubing) and when one size gets exhausted they simply move to a different size knowing it will still stretch over the nib etc.
It is always a good idea to measure twice and cut once, remember that both the tube and the drill hole expand and contract with temperature changes too.
