    A weird bowl, sort of

I have been a few days turning this 'bowl', it is yew i believe and very hard, i must have sharpened the gouge at least eight times during the process. I was really awkward the the side of the bowl flattening out to the base, it was also pretty hairy as well. I suppose it's not a real bowl as it...

After logging in this morning, I noticed at the top of the page a picture of a Maple and Beech Lidded Bowl that was made by me. Horsechestnut Burr Bowl.

A horsechestnut Burr bowl 380mm diameter x 80mm deep. The blank was given to me by my good friend Basil. It is finished in citrus oil & buffed with a cactus thorn brush. Don't want a gloss on this one as reflections can hide the nice grain.

    Totally waterproof finish ??

My wife is a flower arranger and has been looking at some Ikebana designs. Those used a ceramic bowl filled with water and a submerged pin holder for the flowers. I was wondering if it was possible to make a wooden equivalent, not the pin holder. Part of the bowl would obvisously be under...

    Salad Bowl the end

Well here is my salad bowl, i set out wanting to make a usable bowl rather than an ornament. Would like to say thanks for the help with a food safe finish, in the end i went with Pierre's suggestion of grape seed oil and pure beeswax. His suggestion of 80% oil and 20% beeswax was good though in...
